The Magic of Water
Supermodels and one super volunteer share the spotlight at River Oaks luncheon
High fashion and high altruism met in heartfelt unison when the I Am Waters Foundation added a Saks Fifth Avenue fashion show to its fifth annual Supermodels Luncheon.
"I could pinch myself," said I Am Waters founder Elena Davis, a veteran of the supermodel ranks. "The fashion show has been a dream since we started the luncheon five years ago."
The River Oaks Country Club ballroom was as much about helping others as it was about guests helping themselves to the swell outfits seen on the pre-luncheon runway. The mission of "hydrating the homeless both spiritually and physically" was never far from the forefront.
Luncheon chairs Jill Faucetta and Millette Sherman addressed the foundation's good works. Serving as emcees, NBC national news reporter Janet Shamlian and Joey Hunter touched on the issue as did special guests — supermodels Kelly Emberg, Kara Young, and Niki Taylor.
The luncheon honored the much-beloved Warner Roberts, introduced by her long-time friend Scott Evans, who recognized Warner for her endless warmth, her media stardom, and her bottomless well of good works.
Joining in the applause of the day were Gregg Davis, Terri and John Havens, Michelle and Alan Smith, John Basso, Laura Ward, Alicia Smith, Lynn Wyatt, Haag Sherman, Carmen King, Phoebe Tudor, Kim Moody, Gina Gaston, Jana Arnoldy, Amy Lee, and Christie Sullivan.
