Duck calls and cackling chickens salute Katy Prairie at lively Tanglewood benefit
What: Katy Prairie Conservancy "Duck, Duck, Goose" bash.
Where: In the backyard of the Tanglewood-area home of Amy and Hardy Murchison, where chickens in an aviary and a koi pond added to the rich outdoor ambience.
The 411: Benefit chairs Jacque and Kevin Bartol welcomed more than 250 guests who supped on treats from A Fare Extraordinaire and swayed to the honky tonk sounds of Miss Leslie and Her Juke Jointers. For authentic flavor, Jim Gregory provided duck calls.
The event honored Janie and Gareth Cook, Neva and John Dawson and Christy and John Murchison. The three couples were notedfor their efforts in making the prairie more accessible to birders and other visitors in particular through their support of the two-story Matt Cook Wildlife Viewing Platform at Warren Ranch. The structure overlooks the 140-acre Warren Lake, which teems with wildlife, including hundreds of bird species, year-round.
Who: Conservancy executive director Mary Anne Piacentini and husband Drexel Turner, Mary and Mark Rothwell, Lynn and Ty Kelly, Mavis Kelsey, Maggie and Bob Honig, Mark Klien, Debbie and Chris Patton, Cindy and John Bartos, Stephanie and Brad Tucker and Gail and Mike Talbott.
