Who opened the spigot? Another million dollar gala — this one for InterfaithMinistries
They just keep on coming — charity fundraisers crossing the million dollar mark. Congratulations to Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston for being among four non-profits raising a cool million over a long weekend.
As chairs of the annual Tapestry Gala, Carrin Patman and Jim Derrick, Ann and Kenny Friedman and Jasmeeta and Bobby Singh beamed over the fact that proceeds broke records and that the ballroom at the Hilton Americas-Houston was filled with individuals who make a difference in H-Town.
The evening honored Shahzad Bashir, Huron Consulting Group executive vice president. Emphasizing Interfaith Ministries' wide cultural and ethnic umbrella, Bashir was the first Muslim to be honored and the chair couples represented three different religions — Christian, Jewish and Sikh.
Diversity was also celebrated in the musical performances presented by Kenneth Gayle Productions.
Among the more than 700 guests were Nancy and Scott Atlas, Margaret Williams and Jim Daniel, Aziz Jamaluddin, Philamena and Arthur Barid, Neda Ladjevardian and Bill King, Lily and Charles Foster, Ileana and Michael Trevino, Beth Wolff, Arthur Schechter and Muhammad Aquil Naseem, consul general of Pakistan.
