It might not have been Kentucky, but the hats at Mo's were fit for the runningof the roses
Even from the street along Post Oak Boulevard, you could see the ladies in their over-sized hats preening on Saturday afternoon at the entry to Mo's . . . A Place for Steaks. The Rose Ribbon Foundation's fourth annual Kentucky Derby Party was underway and the ladies dressed to kill.
Chyra Blackaller, Kim Watts, Kristie Melass, Tricia Verbois and Catherine de los Santos chaired the afternoon of fun that included betting on the race; a bountiful buffet compliments of Mo's owner, the charming "Johnny V" Vassallo; and a rich silent auction. It was mint juleps, betting and bidding for all! DJ Biz spun the edgy tunes that kept spirits high.
Eye candy for everyone was the contest for best hats. Veronica Gomez took top honors for her broad-brimmed chapeau. Ashley Foret ranked second and Romy Morello came in third. Whitney Chandler handed out samples of her Whitney Gloss lip gloss andLori Lemon Geshay donated 50 copies of her book, Dating Diva Adventures.
More than 150 well-dressed men and women turned out in support of the Rose Ribbon Foundation which provides reconstructive surgery for breast cancer patients in need. Proceeds from the Mo's event are earmarked for the foundation's Holly Hope program that provides wigs and permanent eyeliner for those going through chemotherapy.
Of course, the entire Rose family was there — plastic surgeon Dr. Franklin Rose (who donates his services to the foundation), Cindi Rose and their children, Ben Rose and Erica Rose.
Mingling in the afternoon glow were Kristine Garbo, Nicole Fertitta, Nancy Marcus Golden, Aynsley Armbrust, Angelica and Ed Chapman, Dan and Raman Mullick, Craig Yost, John Sparacino, Laura Woods, Michael Demarse and Michael Leslie.
