Edwardian murder mystery keeps TUTS gala guests on their detective toes
What more brilliant concept for a Theatre Under the Stars fundraiser than an interactive musical! The Edwardian-themed "Who Dunnit?" gala on Sarofim stage at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts was a thriller-filled evening that raised more than $600,000 for outreach and continuing education programs.
The musical murder mystery, featuring the vocal and acting talents of Dylan Godwin and Adam Gibbs, fingered five key suspects in the audience. It was up to gumshoe guests to review special clue packets and bid on items from the “estate sale” of the dearly departed in order to keep the investigation moving forward in an attempt to solve the fictional crime.
Along with chairs Sandy and Randy Stilley, many among the 380 guests donned Edwardian attire in the spirit of the mystery.
Setting the stage for the fun and games was the period red and gold décor by AJ’s Urban Petals, which served as backdrop for the English-inspired meal provided by Jackson and Company and the after-dinner music compliments of the Richard Brown Orchestra.
Wining and dining amid the murder mystery intrigue were Amy and Rob Pierce, Helen and Jim Shaffer, Margaret Alkek Williams and Jim Daniel, Jane and Dean Gladden, Christina and Mark Hanson, Andrea and Trent Tellepsen, and Meredith and Raffi Tcholakian.
