Showing Their 'Jeanerosity'
Denims de rigueur at River Oaks luncheon providing dollars and jeans for youngsters
What:Be A Resource for CPS Kids, or BEAR, annual benefit luncheon.
Where: River Oaks Country Club.
The scoop: Luncheon chairs Mary Lynn Mannon and Mary-Charles Davis threw the typical charity luncheon dress code to the wind with the "jeanerosity" inspired theme in which the ladies were not only asked to bring jeans for Harris County Protective Services children but also were invited to wear their best denim finery.
More than 430 guests, many in the most casual attire, filled the ballroom where BEAR board chair Betsy Mercer honored George Ford, executive director of Harris County Protective Services who helped establish BEAR 19 years ago.
The event raised more than $300,000 toward stocking the BEAR Necessities Room with new children's jeans and other suplies.
Who: BEAR executive director Bernadette Cashin, CPS regional director C.J. Broussard-White, Elaine and Tim Day, Lisa and Charlie Meacham, Nancy Brasher, Alice Burguieres, Jan Mendenhall, Natalie Faust and Joel Levine.
