Motown Lowdown
Motown legends and Supreme impersonators rock gala with classic favorites
Mr. Peabody's Wayback Machine worked overtime at the Bayou Music Center when The Temptations took the stage for a Motown rocking night benefiting Children at Risk.
The dance floor was packed and the sing-alongs irresistible as the gents in their tuxes ginned up their evergreen favorites including "My Girl," "Just My Imagination" and "Ain't Too Proud to Beg."
And then the pseudo Supremes arrived, five fun-loving gals in matching dresses and wigs ready to party. In fact, a number of guests reached far back into their closets or visited resale shops for their interpretations of Motown costuming.
Lisa Helfman, Tracy Maddox and Lynn Sessions chaired the gala that raised $200,000 for the non-profit.
Party people included Children at Risk CEO Dr. Bob Sanborn and wife Ellen, Sheriff Adrian Garcia and wife Monica, Carolyn Farb, Gabe Canales, Casey Curry and Dr. Carl Hahn, Kyle Jennings and Adrienne Publicover, City Councilman Dwight Boykins and wife Genora and Deborah and Stratton Horres Jr.
