Near naked boy toys, a pole dancer and a cupcake babe make this birthday bash wildly unforgettable
Putting together an over-the-top party in 72 hours is no mean fete, but when party planner Christine Hoffer joined forces with Rosemarie Johnson, it was party or die.
Johnson's last-minute 45th birthday bash took shape on a Sunday night after email invitations went out only a few days earlier. For the fanciful bash, the duo transformed the Grand Salon of La Colombe d'Or into a Felini-esque Euro-style nightclub, thanks in no small part to the Marie Antoinette character clad in a bouffant skirt that held dozens of champagne glasses filled with bubbly.
The party characters were part of J&D Entertainment's stable of actors, acrobats and models. On this night, the cast included an aerial acrobat performing on silk swaths, a pole dancer, a cupcake girl (her skirt filled with layers of cupcakes complete with birthday candles) and topless boy toys — exactly what every girl wants on her 45th.
More than 100 guests mingled through the party scene which was outfitted in contemporary furnishings that nicely juxtaposed with the palatial European paneling and chandeliers. With DJ Johnny J spinning the discs, the dancing went on until midnight, not bad for a party that started at 5 in the afternoon.
Helping the birthday girl blow out those cupcake candles was her husband, Matt Johnson, and a host of friends including Monsour Taghdisi, Lucinda Loya, John and Becca Cason Thrash, Melissa and Michael Mithoff, Laura and Evan Greenberg, Katie and A.J. Brass, Dominique Sachse and Nick Florescu, Diane Lokey Farb and Mark Sullivan, Katherine and Bill Phelps and Vanessa and Eduardo Sanchez.
