Art Car Fever
Celebrity music legend builds the anticipation for The Art Car Parade: Close encounters with a star
How cool was it for guests at the VIP reception preceding the Art Car parade sneak preview Thursday night to get up close and personal with the star of the evening's entertainment Aaron Neville?
It was special treat for Discovery Green's dedicated supporters, who gathered at the Lake House deck for cocktails and schmoozing before the concert which was sponsored by the Kinder Foundation.
The Grove's Lonnie and Candice Schiller were on hand to make sure that guests were well fed with mini-cheese burgers, truffle macaroni and cheese fritters, sea scallops and house-smoked deviled eggs. Discovery Green president and park director Barry Mandel and program director Susanne Theis welcomed guests on this evening that commemorated the park's seventh anniversary.
More than 2,000 gathered on the lawn in front of the Anheuser-Busch Stage for the performance by the Aaron Neville Quintet featuring Charles Neville. Adding to the fun was the display of "chopper bicycles" built by Workshop Houston's "chopper"kids.
In the VIP reception were Susie and Sanford Criner, Roxanne and Tim Neumann, Julia Hester and Will Robinson, David Ruiz, Marilyn Oshman and John Harris.
