The "Crafting a Legacy" luncheon salutes four key patrons of the arts
Hats off to Ginni and Richard Mithoff, personal injury and litigationattorney, and Channel 13 news anchor Melanie Lawson and John Guess Jr., CEO of the Houston Museum of African American Culture, who were honored by the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft at the annual "Crafting a Legacy" luncheon. More than 250 guests gathered at River Oaks Country Club to applaud the good works of the honorees.
In addition to serious praise for both couples' philanthropy and for their interest in the arts, the program included a testimonial from woodworker and artist Omar Perez. He spoke on the vital roles that HCCC, art collectors and patrons play in the livelihood of artists. In a testament to the wonders of the craft center, models strode through the ballroom wearing accessories from HCCC's Asher Gallery.
Adding a musical note to the luncheon was the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church's Ministry of Music. And keeping it all in the family, Ch. 13 KTRK news anchor Art Rascon served as master of ceremonies.
The luncheon was chaired by Phyllis Childress and Paula Arnold and drew a crowd that included HCCC executive director Julie Farr, Melissa and Michael Mithoff, Kara Kinder Howes, Franci Crane, Cathy Brock, Audrey and the Rev. Bill Lawson, Robin Mueck, Carolyn and Steve Mafrige, Sarah Pesikoff, Minnette Boesel, Gracie Cavnar and Ramona Davis.
