Party on the bayou
Houston's social set ushers in spring at prettiest event of the season
More than 320 guests ushered in spring at the annual Bayou Bend Garden Party, one of the prettiest events of the social season.
Cocktails took place on the lush grounds of Bayou Bend under a large tent that was transformed into a stunning floral oasis, including chandeliers intertwined with pink roses and elaborate tablescapes set with roses, hyacinths, ranunculus, and succulents, an undertaking that The Events Company/Richard Flowers began a day earlier to make sure everything looked perfect.
Before being seated for dinner, attendees marveled at the property’s gorgeous views, from the beautiful formal garden at Bayou Bend to the former mansion of Houston civic leader and philanthropist Ima Hogg that serves as the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s home for American decorative arts and paintings.
Underneath the tent, guests feasted on a decadent meal catered by City Kitchen, featuring jalapeno-cheese grits soufflé, grilled red snapper, and molten chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream, and danced to music by the David Caceres Orchestra.
Enjoying the evening were Anne and Charles Duncan, Nancy and Rich Kinder, Jeanie Kilroy Wilson and Wally Wilson, Susanne and Bill Pritchard, Anne and Albert Chao, Laurie and Reed Morian, Leslie and Brad Bucher, Karol Barnhart, and Eliza and Stuart Stedman.
Also spotted in the crowd were Whitney Wheeler and Jim Crane, Kitch Taub, Pamela and David Ott, Debbie and Gary Gibson, Jay Jones and Terry Wayne Jones, Diane Lokey Farb, Margaret Alkek Williams and Jim Daniel, Carol and Michael Linn, Pat Breen, Ann and John Bookout, Mary Lynn and Steve Marks, Lisa and Downing Mears, and Aliyya Stude.
