The Mad Hatter would have envied the grand chapeaus and the great moms feted at this luncheon
There are several glorious fashion events in the spring for which wearing a hat is de rigueur, happenings at which you can walk into a room with full confidence that your 10-inch brim is not conspicuous fashion but rather part of the fun. Case in point: Easter Seals' Hats Off to Mothers luncheon.
You don't have to wear a hat, but how much fun is it to play dress up and don the fanciest chapeau in the closet? Just ask the 10 moms who were honored at the annual luncheon held at River Oaks Country Club. Each of the honorees donned some form of headwear, be it a fascinator, a cloche or a wide-brimmed extravaganza.
While hats are the playful aspect of the day, fundraising for Easter Seals ($155,000 raised) and honoring women who are great moms was the serious side of the proceedings.
Taking bows for their stellar examples as mothers were Gina Bhatia, Julie Brown, Gracie Cavnar, Wendy Dawson, Debbie Deutser Greenbaum, Ursaline Hamilton, Robin Klaes, Beth Muecke, Judy Nyquist and Ginny Simmons. Applause for these women who not only are great moms but also contribute generously to the community.
Lauren DeLuca and her mother, Elizabeth DeLuca, chaired the 14th annual Hats Off to Mothers Luncheon.
