With the drought still threatening the shrinking Houston canopy, there could not have been a better time nor a better location (on the edge of Memorial Park) for the annul Root Ball that raised $290,000 in support of Trees For Houston.
Cathy Brock, Tricia Dewhurst and Michelle Foutch chaired the dinner dance that focused on helping Trees For Houston fulfill its mission of planting, protecting and promoting trees throughout the city.
Following the night's Club Coco theme, many guests dressed in Caribbean attire, a fashion nod that genially mixed with the mojitos and the island sounds that greeted them on arrival. Adding to the Caribbean tableau were stylish cabanas around the swimming pool, tropical-inspired lounge furniture and a gentleman rolling cigars.
Planting seeds for future trees were Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst,Cathy and Joe Cleary, Terri and John Havens, Marie Louise and David Kinder, Lisa and Will Mathis, Elisabeth and Brian McCabe, Laura and Andrew McCullough, Eliza and Stuart Stedman and Sarah and Duncan Underwood. Applauding the support was Trees for Houston executive director Barry Ward, accompanied by his wife, Bonnie.
