Ashley Judd, Lyle Lovett and Dayle Haddon among celebs making moves on theHouston scene
And you thought actress Ashley Judd was only about her new ABC series Missing and her life on the circuit with husband Dario Franchitti, Scottisch race car driver. Wrong. With a date to speak at the Children's Assessment Center's spring luncheon next week, Judd is also scheduled to speak at The Council on Alcohol and Drugs fundraiser April 26, when she will talk about her experience as a codependent and the inpatient program that helped her move forward.
In her comments on The Council website, Judd says, "Because someone carried the message of recovery to me, and helped me begin to learn about family systems and how affected I was by other people's addictions of various kinds, I have learned that I, too, can recover!"
The luncheon is chaired by Pierce Bush, Jonathon Avery and Krista Borstell. You can register for the fundraiser, to be held at the Hilton Americas Houston, here.
Caroline Schiller paints for Lyle Lovett
Young Caroline Schiller got to know singer Lyle Lovett pretty well from her days hosting at Cafe Annie and at RDG, where he frequents, and as an aspiring artist had always dreamed of painting something for him inspired by his music. Eventually, she did and after having moved to Singer Island in Florida she had the opportunity to present the painting to Lovett.
The Spring native was performing at Sunrise Theater in Fort Pierce, Fla., an hour from where Caroline and her beau, energy trader Brendan Murphy, were living, so they drove over to hear the concert and to present Lovett a painting of a horse in motion, inspired by his song "If I Had a Boat." From the stage, he introduced Caroline, praised her artistic talent and dedicated that very song to her.
After the show, Lovett invited the couple backstage and for a tour of his bus, putting the duo on Cloud Nine. Caroline reports that her parents, Candice and Lonnie Schiller, plan on hanging the painting in RDG until Lovett returns from his concert tour to retrieve it for his home in Spring. High times for this aspiring artist.
