Paris-based designer Andrew Gn is the toast of H-Town: Enjoys Max's friedchicken, RDG burger
Paris-based designer Andrew Gn is so low-key that you would hardly recognize him as one of the world's leading couture masters. But then again there is no mistaking his cherubic round face, the shaved head and his penchant for trés casual attire.
Therefore, anyone who might not have known the affable, if dry witted, designer before would have easily recognized him in the chichi group that poured into John and Becca Cason Thrash's manse on Monday night. It was a little cocktail fete for Gn in advance of Tuesday's Passion for Fashion luncheon headlining Gn, honoring Cason Thrash and benefiting Houston Community College's fashion and interior design programs.
Luncheon chairs Rosemarie Johnson and Melissa Mithoff and their spouses, Matt Johnson and Michael Mithoff, were among the early arrivals at the art-filled home in Memorial.
The fashion flock included Don Mafrige, Mauney Mafrige, Karen Pulaski, Jeff Gremillion, Debbie and Rudy Festari, Monsour Taghdisi, Sharin Norman, Jared Lang, John Evatz, Sabiha Rehmatulla and Leisa-Holland Nelson.
But the night did not end there for Gn, as he and a group of 20 or so headed over to RDG for a late supper, Gn ordering the burger (one of the best in town). In addition to the luncheon chairs and their husbands that group included Diane Lokey Farb, Nidhika and Pershant Mehta, Debbie Festari, Mickey Rosmarin, Fady Armanious, the Cason Thrashes and more. Rosmarin's Tootsies hosted the designer.
Sunday night, Gn's best Houston buds, CultureMap editor-in-chief Clifford Pugh and partner John Dascoulias, joined the designer for dinner at Max's Wine Dive, where Gn ordered his favorite — fried chicken. Also digging in were Tootsies' Penne Weidig and Fady Armanious. The famed dish was so good that the table ordered a second round to be shared by all. Tuesday after the luncheon, Tootsies sent out to Frenchy's for more fried chicken.
