Dress for Success salutes Models of Success at runway show and kickoff for clothing drive
What:Dress for Success Houston's Models of Success runway show and clothing drive kickoff.
Where: Dress for Success headquarters.
The scoop: More than 140 guests gathered to celebrate success stories of clients who have benefited from Dress for Success Houston’s services. The models, all who have participated in the organization's employment training programs, walked the runway in professional attire as emcee ABC13's Ilona Carson shared their triumphs. Half of those taking part in this year's program are U.S. veterans who have successfully transitioned from military service to civilian life.
“Our programs equip women with the tools they need to maintain employment and grow in their careers. A suit may become outdated, but the skills women learn from our programs can last a lifetime,” said Nancy Levicki, the organization's president and co-founder.
Before the runway show, guests mingled on the outdoor terrace and enjoyed light bites from A Fare Extraordinaire as DFSH Corporate Guild president Staci Voll welcomed the crowd. A raffle drawing for first class tickets donated by United Airlines brought in $9,000 for the organization.
The event, hosted by Vinson & Elkins, honored the organization's ' “Clean Sweep” sponsors as they kicked off Send One Suit (S.O.S.) Month, Dress for Success Houston’s city-wide professional clothing drive with 145 Houston companies hosting suit drives at 238 sites.
