Gay Civil Rights fight brings powerhouse politicians to a champagne brunch in Houston
What: The 2015 Victory Fund Houston Champagne Brunch.

The 411: Ryan Lindsay and Tammi Wallace chaired the event that drew a crowd of more than 500 and raised more than $200,000 for the non-profit that supports openly LGBT political candidates. Elected officials lending their name to the cause included Mayor Annise Parker, Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia, Michigan State Rep. Jeremy Moss and Alabama State Rep. Patricia Todd.
City Councilmen Mike Laster and Robert Gallegos were on hand as well and presented a Mayoral Proclamation to the event’s honorary co-chairs Tony Carroll and Dr. Bruce Smith.
Two special awards were given on this day — the inaugural Annise Parker Leadership Award which went to the Mayor "as a pioneering leader furthering LGBT civil rights" and the Victory Fund Corporate Ally Award which went to Comcast. Accepting for the corporation was Ray Purser.
