Although it wasn't billed as such, the University of Houston Friends of Women's Studies 16th annual Table Talk provided the ultimate networking opportunity as more than 50 highly-successful women sat down at lunch to share their wisdom with their tablemates.
Mayor Annise Parker, KHOU Channel 11 president and general manager Susan McEldoon, Johnson Space Center director Ellen Ochoa, Bank of Texas Houston region president Valerie Gibbs and CultureMap CEO Alyce Alston were among the powerhouse femmes who provided the meat of the matter for table discussions.
Cheryl Creuzot and Leisa Holland-Nelson chaired the event at the Hilton Americas-Houston where a record attendance of 550 resulted in record proceeds. The luncheon raised a net $120,000 for scholarships and assistantships in the Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies Program at UH.
Among those stimulating conversation in the ballroom that was truly buzzing were Dr. Sophia Banu, Michelle Barnes, Carrin Patman, Donna Vallone, Helen Vollmer, Drucie Chase, Lois Stark, Bethany Haley, Aliyya Stude and Dr. Danong Chen.
