Houston hospital celebrates more than $2 million in donations from supporters
Incoming chairs of Houston Methodist's Society for Leading Medicine have a tall order to fill following in the footsteps of 2014 inaugural chairs Estela and David Cockrell. The duo recorded just under $2.1 million raised during their tenure.
In celebration of that generosity, the Cockrells opened their home for a sincere thank-you to the society membership which made the windfall possible.
Houston Methodist president and CEO Dr. Marc Boom thanked the gathering as well and pointed to the impact of the society's gifts in the hospital's translational research, spiritual care and medical education. He was joined in the brief program by Dr. Evan Collins, Center for Performing Arts Medicine chairman, who provided updates on the center's recent advancements.
Incoming society chairs Kelli and Eddy Blanton and Cabrina and Steven Owsley also addressed the gathering and were proud to report that 2015 is off to a fast start with 135 memberships and more than $800,000 secured to date.
Joining in celebration of the annual giving society were Dr. Julie Boom, Eleanor and Dan Gilbane, Katherine and Paul Murphy, Marcy Taub, Janet and Ernie Cockrell, Duncan Underwood, Sarah Jane and Ross Canion, Jane and Ed Parker and Isabel and Danny David.
