Masquerade Theatre lights up a Red Hot Sweethearts Ball
When is a ballroom also an inviting theatrical venue? When Masquerade Theatre Co. takes over for a gala that features performance vignettes by company principals.
That was the scheme of things for the Red Hot Sweetheart's Ball at Hotel ZaZa where actors Kristina Sullivan and Luther Chakurian were joined by Tribble School of Professional Musical Theatre students for an evening of playful entertainment.
Close to 300 turned out in support of the theater group, including chairs Nancy and Rob Martin and honorary chair Toan Ngyuen. Masquerade Theatre board president Paula Smith and husband Malcolm Smith served as auctioneers. They loved the bidding action that ensued after Kristine Mills gave a sample of the singing she committed to in a private concert with her quartet.
HoustonPBS' Ernie Manouse served as emcee for the evening where guests included Cody Heath, Angelica and Ed Chapman, Greg Stackhouse, Charlotte and Jay Tribble, Mary Ann Reynolds and Dr. Bob Wilkins, Lynn Mathre, Stewart O'Dell, Jackson Hearn, David Adickes, Jano and John Kelly, Dr. Roland Maldonado and Joel Bickley and Robin and Danny Klaes.
