A great romantic adventure: Motorcycle video man courted her from around theworld
Chloe Byers was from New York and living in Charleston, S.C., after finishing college there. Paul Hotze was a writer/video producer from Houston, taking a break from the big-city grind in favor of the southern charms of that city by the sea.
They met in Charleston through a mutual friend and had a few dates but each was going in his/her own direction. She was headed to Washington D.C. to ultimately work at The Smithsonian and he was off on a solo motorcycle trip to the southernmost tip of South America. That might have been the end of it, but Paul was smitten and wasn't going to let this lady get away.
"Paul charmed me during his trip to South America," Chloe emailed. "He wrote me a typed letter (on a vintage typewriter!), sent beautiful flowers, penned notes professing his love. I was flattered. He was kind, generous, witty and very fun to be around. I was impressed with his sense of adventure. But also thought he might never stop moving from journey to journey."

In fact, after the South American adventure, Paul moved to Chicago to pursue his writing, improv and acting career at Second City while continuing to pursue Chloe. She liked him, yes. But she wasn't convinced that he was a safe bet. But then she stressed that she might miss having him in her life. And then she worried that if she embraced the relationship it might not really work.
But then again, "If I said 'no,' would I be missing out on the greatest adventure of my life?" she wondered.
Enough already. Paul gave it one last shot, inviting her to join him in New Orleans for New Year's Eve. She did. "We had a memorable weekend and I knew I had made the right choice. I also knew I was starting to fall for him."
Paul returned to Houston to build his marketing consulting and video production company, The Hotze Group. Both had grown weary of the long-distance romance although they were together once a month in places like New York, Charleston, D.C., Chicago, Houston and even Europe. Finally in March of last year, Chloe said goodbye to D.C. and moved to Houston to be with Paul. In June, he surprised her with a proposal and they were wed on New Year's Eve in Charleston.
For the rehearsal dinner, Paul put forth his best professional talents, writing and producing an MGM-worthy video of their relationship. You can see it and get his version of this love story in the video module above.
With Washington D.C. in her rearview mirror, Chloe Byers Hotze found her professional niche in Houston with the Dini Partners.
