A topless mermaid, Lady Bunny, sexy hunks and uptown hipsters rock Houston's Night Circus
The Corinthian has played host to loads of nighttime extravaganzas but seldom has the atmosphere been more deliciously decadent than at the Velvet Slipper Divine Night Circus. The invitation-only bash, brainchild of entrepreneur Vivian Wise, rocked with the spins of notorious DJ Lady Bunny and soared with the antics of aerial silk acrobats.
Several hundred friends of Vivian partied beneath the "circus tent," created from 3,000 yards of fabric, as imagined by Bergner & Johnson Design's Rebekah Johnson.
The liquid focal point of this circus was the central bar where the bottomless drinks flowed while Snow White snoozed above on an elevated platform. (She was later awakened with a kiss from Prince Charming.) But, of course, all eyes were on the topless (with the exception of demure pasties) mermaid, who lounged on the edge of the party scene just down from the soft pretzel station. Butter, cinnamon, original?
This off-beat soirée doubled as a coming out party for Babette, the Airstream trailer at the center of Velvet Slipper Divine. Parked out back and with security guards in place, Babette was open for business, a collection of glittering fashion accessories on display for sale and a duo of hunky gents serving Cristal. If there were a fire code for Airstreams, it would have been broken on this night as the alluring boutique on wheels was quite the hit.
Among the eclectic collection of guests, Shannon Hall and Marcus Sloan stepped out on the wild side, Sloan in lion's costume and Hall as the top-hatted ring master with whip in hand. At the opposite end of the guest spectrum were Marie and Bill Wise, parents of the party host and major investors in the Velvet Slipper Divine concept.
They were among the guests perusing the photography exhibition and the Marrakech-style boutique where wares from several luxury vendors were offered. Part of the proceeds from the evening are earmarked for Bering Omega Community Services.
The spirited party throng included Chris Goins, Jacy and Grant Cooper, Mickey Rosmarin, Don Mafrige Jr., Debbie Festari, Carolyn Farb, George Lancaster, Holly Waltrip, Isabel and Danny David, Lindsay and Matt Sturm, Sara Dodd, Gregory Fourticq, Libby Cagle, Rob Rutherford, Mauney Mafrige, Liz Gorman, Nick Espinosa and Carlos Meltzer and on and on.
P.S. Babette is available for party rentals and Vivian Wise will help with the planning and execution. To join the party, click here.
