There are showers and then there are showers. But for friends of mom-to-be KTRK Channel 13 meteorologist Casey Curry, it was the "baby sprinkle" that won out over the more traditional baby shower. Hosts Marjory Hawkins and Erin Spencer of Theme Designs and publicist Kim Padgett planned the "sprinkle" as a more casual version of pre-baby partying. And not a cloud in sight for the outdoor gathering.
The Texas-themed fajita cook-out for girlfriends and guys was held on Saturday at Theme Designs studio in the Galleria area where Curry and hubby Carl Hahn were the center of attention. The baby girl, their first image, is due in early February.
It was something of a joint celebration as Channel 13 morning news anchor Tom Koch was presented with an Italian cream cake in honor of his birthday, which was only two days later. Curry insisted on the recognition for her morning news cohort.
A large contingent of the Channel 13 family was there to toast the mom- and pop-to-be including Sharron Melton, Patricia Lopez, Samica Knight, Don Nelson, Kevin Quinn and wife Elizabeth, Brandon Benton, Mike Fernau and wife Mary Lynn, Blanca Beltran and Sonia Azad. Beyond the TV world, guests included the Social Book's Scott Evans and Jeff Henry, Houston magazine editor Jeff Gremillion, Baccarat's Bruce Padilla and Shelby Kibodeaux.
