Let it snow! Homeless shelter gets into the holiday spirit with winter wonderland
Where:The Mission of Yahweh Homeless Shelter for Women and Children
The 411: For five years, John Blaisdell and Monica Hartland Blaisdell, have provided a winter wonderland on Christmas morning for the residents of the Mission of Yahweh, a homeless shelter for women and children that has been serving the community for 53 years. Volunteers and their families, totaling more than 100, joined the 150 women and children who reside at the mission to celebrate the season, distribute gifts, and frolic on a snow-covered playground. Children got gifts from their holiday wish lists and each woman received a piece of luggage filled with wrapped gifts such as pajamas, robes, hair dryers, and perfumes. The event, which took place during the early hours of Christmas Day, truly captured the generous spirit of the holiday.
