Drake gifts Houston fans free tenders from his hot chicken restaurants on his birthday
Drake may be celebrating his 37th birthday on Tuesday, October 24, but his fans will be receiving a present. The hip-hop superstar has partnered with Dave’s Hot Chicken to give away free chicken tender sliders on his big day.
To claim the deal, diners need to download the Dave’s Hot Chicken app and visit a location between 11 am and 9 pm. Limit one slider per person.
Although it seems like an odd pairing, Drake is an investor in the California-based restaurant. Since opening its first local location two years ago, the company has expanded to seven Houston-area locations. An eighth will open soon in Webster.
Founded in 2017 as a parking lot pop-up by Dave Kopushyan — a classically trained chef and veteran of Thomas Keller’s Bouchon restaurant — Dave’s serves halal chicken tenders and sandwiches at seven difference spice levels — all the way up to Reaper, which requires customers to sign a waiver prior to consumption. The menu also includes sides such as kale slaw, mac & cheese, crispy fries, and cheese fries. Milkshakes help ease the burn.
In addition to Drake, the company counts a number of celebrities among its investors including Boston Red Sox chairman Tom Werner, actor Samuel L. Jackson, NFL Hall of Famer and broadcaster Michael Strahan, and journalist/former First Lady of California Maria Shriver.
“After completing his It’s All a Blur tour and releasing his new album, For All the Dogs, Drake is once again celebrating his birthday with everyone at Dave’s Hot Chicken and our guests across the globe,” Dave’s Hot Chicken CEO Bill Phelps said in a statement. “He’s our most famous investor and the fact that he wants to give something back to fans by letting everyone try Dave’s Hot Chicken on him, that says it all.”
