CityCentre uncorks a chic new wine bar serving steak and charcuterie
Houston’s bustling CityCentre mixed-use development will soon be home to a new wine bar. Slated to open in the next couple of weeks, The Board Room is a wine bar, cafe, and gourmet grocer that will sell cheese and charcuterie boards.
Located in the former Bar Milano space on the backside of the Moran Hotel, The Board Room is a creation of Memorial residents Carly and John Whitehurst with an assist from hospitality veteran Scott Sulma, who started May I Speak Hospitality after high-profile stints with Tony’s and Atlas Restaurants (Loch Bar, Marmo). The 2,000-square-foot space will seat 70 people between its bar, tables, and outdoor patio.
During the day, The Board Room will serve grab-and-go wraps, salads, and sandwiches such as the Mediterranean veggie, Crispy CBR (Chicken Bacon Ranch), turkey club, teriyaki salmon and harvest grain bowls, Southwest steak, seaside Caesar, and cranberry chicken salad.
Beginning at 4 pm, the restaurant will feature more substantial entrees and cheese and charcuterie boards designed to feed groups of two to six people. Options include the veggie-focused Crudité Harvest to a Butcher’s Board for meat lovers and a dessert board. Entree choices include chicken piccata, a New York Strip, seared redfish, sandwiches, salads, and flatbreads.
The wine list will consist of 80-100 bottles and 20 by-the-glass pours. Other beverage options include spritzes and cocktails.
On the retail side, look for a curated selection of products from local vendors. They include: Margaret James & Co. custom florist, Tommy’s Pimento Cheese, Dos Margaritas Salsa, ACASA Margarita Mix, BBQ Rubdown spice rubs, and more.
“We saw an opportunity to reimagine charcuterie with a level of craftsmanship and presentation not currently seen in Houston,” the Whitehursts said in a statement. “Against a backdrop of globally-inspired wine, we wanted to create an inviting space that accommodated a variety of needs for both dining and socializing. At the same time, it’s a lifestyle amenity for residents and visitors who can grab a bottle of wine, flowers, or a beautifully prepared charcuterie board for a host gift on the way to their next gathering.”
The Board Room will open daily at 11 am. Follow it on Instagram for an official opening date.
