Let's Eat
Iconic Houston restaurant returns with an all-new look and menus
Longtime Houston favorite Café Annie has undergone a makeover, and it's time to see it for yourself. The refreshed eatery, now known as The Annie Café & Bar, is now open daily for lunch and dinner at 1800 Post Oak Blvd.
Executive chef Robert Del Grande is still leading the kitchen, which is now focused on turning out Texas-influenced American cuisine. The revamped restaurant is the latest from Berg Hospitality Group, which also operates B&B Butchers & Restaurant in Houston and Fort Worth, both locations of B.B. Lemon, and B.B. Italia Kitchen & Bar and B.B. Pizza.
Located at 1800 Post Oak in the heart of the Galleria area, The Annie Café & Bar has a vibrant, sophisticated atmosphere. The main entrance has been relocated, welcoming guests next to a stairwell that leads to the second-floor dining space and leaving room for the beautiful, 38-seat, oval-shaped white stone bar.
All-new wood floors, whitewashed brick walls, and floor-to-ceiling black steel windows are complemented by a selfie-worthy mural from New York graffiti artist CES. The patio provides an elevated look at Post Oak and a view of the high-rises toward Memorial Park.
Lunch and dinner are served Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am-10 pm, with the bar closing at 11 pm, and Sunday through Monday from 11 am-9 pm (bar closes at 10 pm).
On the menu are a few Annie favorites— including the tortilla soup, burger, and steak tartare — as well as fresh oysters, redfish tacos, rabbit pot pie, lamb ragu, and coffee-crusted filet mignon. Each day features a new dinner special, and there are a handful of meals designed to be shared among two diners.
A bar menu also includes a selection of small plates, but guests can order from the entire dinner menu at the bar. Not to be missed is the impressive cocktail menu by The Annie's beverage director, Kara Slife, which utilizes cutting-edge spirits to create traditional and unique cocktails.
Curated by The Annie sommelier Bridget Paliwoda, the wine list begins with a selection of aperitifs and follows with a hearty collection of red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines. Del Grande and Paliwoda even pooled their knowledge to create a list of sips that pair best with the raw bar items, ensuring each briny bite will be well complemented.
