Fresh and tasty: From mac to Mexican, new restaurants abound in Houston
Sometimes new restaurants open so fast it'll make even the most committed foodie's head spin.
If you're looking for the newest places in town this weekend, we've got the scoop:
A new concept from the owners of The Continental Club, Natachee's Supper 'n' Punch opened this week on the adjacent block of Main Street in Midtown. With an eclectic, down-home vibe, it's serving up sandwiches, burgers, breakfast food and a mean punch. Don't forget to say hi to Lucy the horse, meanandering on the adjacent plot of land.
After months of delays, the fourth Cyclone Anaya's in Houston is set to open Monday at CityCentre, ready to serve happy hour and dinner to a fun-loving crowd. We can't make the margaritas healthy (paging Bethenny Frankel!) but for the freshest tastes, look for the new items chef Jason Gould has added to the menu, including tamarind-spiced ribs, tilapia tacos and a kick-butt ceviche.
Just off Washington, Fox Hollow is getting on the gastropub bandwagon, serving up green-centric, organic drinks and fare with a vintage vibe — think stained glass windows and antique stemware. Translation: Not your average Washington hotspot.
Considering the Southern adoration for all things carbs and cheese (or is this a global passion?) we predict big things for Jus' Mac, a Heights spot serving — you guessed it — gourmet versions of mac and cheese.
Think that's limiting? You have to see the menu to believe it. Open since Tuesday for dinner, lunch service started today.
Also starting on Monday, Zimm's Little Deck sits at the eastern edge of Montrose and will be serving up delicious, high-end po'boys (they call them rich boys, natch), with beer, wine and an ultracasual vibe perfect for wiling away the afternoon.
