Pioneering Heights chef leaves Glass Wall for love of Liberty
For nearly five years, Lance Fegen has manned the kitchen at Glass Wall, one of the earliest stalwarts of the Heights culinary renaissance.
His seasonal American flavors, served with a healthy dose of California surfer cool and an ambitious but accessible wine program by partner Shepherd Ross, earned praise from My Table, Texas Monthly and wine Spectator.
Now Fegen has handed over the reins of the back of the house to his kitchen staff, resigning his post as executive chef while retaining his stake as co-owner. Fegen is focusing on his newest venture, Liberty Kitchen and Oyster Bar, which is currently under construction in the Heights. Liberty Kitchen is owned by Fegen, Lee Ellis, Carl Eaves and Will Davis, the same group behind the ultra-hot BRC Gastropub.
"We look forward to bringing another great dining spot to the Heights," Fegen says. "It's going to be fun building from an existing structure and utilizing old woods we found in the Heights."
