Adair Kitchen owners bring new life to Bellaire park cafe
Evelyn's Park Conservancy has found a new operator for the Bellaire park's onsite cafe. Adair Concepts, the company behind Adair Kitchen, Eloise Nichols Grill & Liquors, Bebidas, and others, will open Betsy's at Evelyn's Park later this fall.
The new all-day cafe will blend elements of the company's restaurants by serving smoothies and breakfast tacos in the morning and wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, and salads for lunch and dinner. Betsy's will support the park's programming and use events like grill nights and movies on the lawn to draw more visitors.
“Adair Concepts is absolutely thrilled to partner with Evelyn’s Park Conservancy and contribute to the thriving park community,” said Katie Adair Barnhart, co-owner of Adair Concepts, in a statement. “We hope neighbors will join us for breakfast, lunch, or dinner – or even for a great glass of wine. No matter the reason, we view the space as an ideal watering hole for neighbors and friends of all ages.”
Betsy's replaces Ivy & James, the concept from former Zelko Bistro operators Jamie & Dalia Zelko that closed in July. Citing the Adair family's ties to Bellaire, the conservancy thinks it's found operators who have a deep understanding of the neighborhood's needs and wants.
"We feel that Adair understands the community’s desire for quality food at a reasonable price point, high-level customer service, and an inviting, communal atmosphere," park director Patricia King-Ritter tells CultureMap in an email. "Families who come to enjoy Evelyn’s Park and have meals as part of their experience need quality offerings that won’t break the bank. The Adairs are proud of their community and have a vested interest in being entrenched in it. It is their community too, and they want to see it continue to thrive."
Opening Betsy's should keep Barnhart and her brother, Adair Concepts co-owner Nick Adair, busy for a little while, but that isn't the duo's only project. They're opening a new, still unnamed restaurant in downtown's Wells Fargo Plaza in the fall of 2019.
