A coffee revolution takes over Houston: New local shops are blowing away themega chains
The global mega chains that supply many Houstonians with their morning cup of java may offer high-tech apps, convenient drive-thru service and a standardized bill of fare from location to location to location. But a new wave of brewing methods, one that opts for a blend of locally-sourced ingredients, is sweeping the city, according to CultureMap's coffee savant Tyler Rudick.
It's where coffee science and art meet, where ingredients are measured carefully, beans are lightly roasted to accentuate natural flavors and where even the texture and temperature of the ice matters when crafting the perfect morning or afternoon pick-me-up.
In this KHOU CultureMap Moment, Rudick heads to Revival Market in the Heights to unravel the secret of his favorite latte.
Also on the top of his list are brews by Catalina Coffee, Down House and newcomer Double Trouble in the Fourth Ward.
