Local Pour Shutters
With high-rise coming, popular River Oaks bar shutters
One of River Oaks' favorite places to party has shuttered. On Thursday afternoon, Local Pour announced on Facebook that it has closed.
"In preparation for the changes that are coming to the River Oaks Shopping Center, we have decided to close our doors to this great location after almost five wonderful years," the post reads. "We would like to say thank you to all of our great customers and we hope to see y'all soon! Please stay tuned to our website for the new Local Pour location."
As noted in Local Pour's post, Weingarten Realty's plans to turn the section of the shopping center that houses the bar into a 30-story residential tower is what prompted the decision. Local Pour's neighbor Cafe Ginger has already announced plans to move to a new location at the corner of West Gray and Dunlavy, slated to open February 2018.
When it opened in 2013, the bar provided a welcome alternative to its former incarnation as Sherlock's Pub. The upscale interior, extensive craft beer selection, well made cocktails, and better- than-it-had-to-be food lured patrons in the door, making Local Pour an overnight success. The concept even proved popular enough for owner HUSA Management, Inc. to open a second location in The Woodlands.
CultureMap has contacted representatives for Local Pour to learn more information about the new location. We will continue to update this article.
