Bistro Calais, known for its casual French fare served from a Historic Houston cottage near Highland Village, has changed its name to Phil & Derek's Restaurant & Wine Bar.

According to owner Phillip Mitchell, the name change won't have any material effects on the dining experience — the menu, kitchen and ownership are all remaining unaltered — but the ambiance is getting an ever-so-slight tweak.

"We wanted to create a more uptown image, try to get away from the country feel," Mitchell tells CultureMap.

Phil & Derek's will now be open on Mondays, with a $12 tailgating buffet on Mondays before and during Monday Night Football games, and will offer the $12 buffet lunch daily, previously only available on Tuesdays.
