Hot Dog Deal
Iconic Houston restaurant chain offers a doggone unbelievable deal on house specialty
Iconic Houston hot dog chain James Coney Island wants to help Houstonians ease into the fall grind with a bit of deal. Next Thursday, September 17, the company will sell its signature Original Coney dogs for 92 cents each — that's one cent for every year the company has been in business. For an additional 30 cents, diners can add cheese to the mix of mustard, Coney sauce (a thin, chili-style gravy) and onions.
JCI will not limit diners to a specific number of dogs, which gives someone the opportunity to be an office hero by buying a group of coworkers lunch for $25. With 20 locations across the Houston area, almost everyone should be able to get to one easily.
While next Thursday's promotion appeals to nostalgic cravings, JCI is looking towards the future, too. The restaurant recently made a splash by hiring Eatsie Boys chef Matt Marcus to add some new items to the menu, but, don't fret, the legacy menu's signature Coneys will remain untouched.
Those who miss the promotion shouldn't worry too much. It will reappear next year at some point with one catch.
The hot dogs will cost 93 cents.
