Houston Restaurant Weeks sampling: Prep for a hot month of great dining deals
Houston's foodie scene is abuzz with talk of Houston Restaurant Weeks, which kicks off on Aug. 1 with a ton of old favorites participating alongside a dozen or so can't-miss new restaurants — with more new participants being added by the day to the lengthy lineup.
The 10-year-running event (which continues its recent tradition of running the entire month this year) raises hefty funds (a record-breaking $800,000 in 2011) for the Houston Food Bank while granting affordable access to some of the city's finest dining. Participating restaurants offer a three- or four-course dinner for $35 (with $5 donated to the HFB) and a two- or three-course lunch for $20 (with a $3 donation).
CultureMap's Sarah Rufca joined KHOU's Katherine Whaley at Canopy to sample some of the dishes that will be offered on the Montrose restaurant's prix fixe lunch and dinner menus.
