On this week's episode of "What's Eric Eating," El Segundo Swim Club owner Matthew Healy, designer Gin Braverman, and bartender Chris Frankel join CultureMap food editor Eric Sandler to discuss the new pool bar that's one of this summer's buzziest openings

El Segundo has already made a splash, but the group has plans to expand what they're going even further. As Braverman explains, they're listening to their customers about how to improve the club.

"The preview events of the summer provided us with the opportunity to assess how people use the space and cater to their needs moving forward. It's been a great way to study what we've done so far and what should come after," Braverman says. "The plans that we have now are to add additional cabanas, more lounge areas, and really lay it down with the landscape and make it very finished. We're just seeing how people move around the space before we finalize that. As make improvements throughout the summer, we're assessing the best possible improvements to make."

Prior to the El Segundo trio joining the show, Sandler and local food lover Matt Harris discuss the news of the week. Their topics include Anthony Calleo's plans to open a new Montrose restaurant in conjunction with chef Adam Dorris, Saint Arnold's new restaurant, and the decision by Hubbell & Hudson Bistro to rebrand as Tris. Harris and Sandler also offer a few thoughts on the passing of Jonathan Gold, the Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic of the Los Angeles Times.

In the restaurants of the week segment, the two men share some thoughts on the soup dumplings at Wanna Bao and the neo soul food at newly opened tasting menu concept Restaurant Indigo.
