Common Bond's newest Houston location rises with exciting northside outpost
Common Bond Café & Bakery is heading north. As CultureMap has previously reported, the Montrose-based bakery is experiencing quite the growth spurt; five new locations were announced in March. Beloved for its housemade croissants, cakes, and other pastries, Common Bond has inked a deal with CityPlace in Springwoods Village. The restaurant is set to open there in 2020.
CityPlace is a 60-acre mixed use development anchored by the lakefront at CityPlace Plaza north of Spring and west of I-45. The entertainment and retail center is growing rapidly. Currently home to the Houston CityPlace Marriott at Springwoods Village, the development recently announced the impending arrival of Island Grill, opening in mid-2019. Star Cinema Grill, a 10-screen, dine-in movie theater will open this June, and 24 Hour Fitness comes on line later in the year.
“Common Bond is a great addition to the growing retail and dining experience we are creating at CityPlace,” said Warren Wilson, executive vice president of CDC Houston, one of the partners in brokering the Common Bond expansion deal, in a statement. “We are very pleased to be attracting high quality, proven concepts as we continue to expand the live, work, play experience which has been established at CityPlace.”
In addition to ever-growing dining and entertainment options, the area is home to businesses such as ExxonMobil, HP, and Southwestern Energy. Those anchors have helped spur development of businesses that cater to workers and families living in Springwoods Village. The opening of Common Bond continues the trend.
The restaurant will occupy 4,289 square feet with a spacious patio on the ground floor of CityPlace 1. Once open, it will serve weekday breakfast, weekday lunch and dinner, as well as weekend brunch and dinner.
