Worth a trip: Esquire names Tony's one of America's 10 best destinationrestaurants
Aspen, the Breakers, New Orleans — The country has plenty of spaces that mix historic luxury with modern taste.
And according to Esquire's John Mariani, Tony's is one of them.
Mariani gathered his ten favorite destination restaurants, defined as locations that are beautiful, romantic and places that would anchor "a grand weekend."
Many of the favorites were hotel restaurants, like Louisville's English Grill at the Brown Hotel and Bedford Post, the Westchester County inn owned by Richard Gere and Carey Lowell.
When it comes to Tony's, Mariani gives high marks to the service, the modern decór and the parade of society that passes through — all regulars. But he saves his highest praise for the Italian-focused menu. "Indeed, I'd rank the Italian food here as among the five best in the U.S. and the ten best in Italy," Mariani gushes.
