Yes, seriously
Overlooked for Dallas (again): Texas gets a Trader Joe's, but Houston only onthe radar for now
Now it's just getting old.
As if it wasn't enough of a slap in the face that the antithesis of Houston is getting both the most coveted burger joint of all — In-N-Out, but of course — and trendy fashion retailer H&M, Dallas will also be the first metropolis in Texas to score a Trader Joe's, too.
Way to knock us while we're already down, Trader Joe's.
Perhaps the most perfect national neighborhood market in the country, Trader Joe's is the socially responsible, whimsical foodie's dream come true.
And we're not getting one. Yet, anyway.
In a statement issued to us via e-mail from Trader Joe's, the company says, "Dallas, and frankly the entire state of Texas, is a place we’ve wanted to be for a long time. We are a company that grows in a very controlled and thoughtful way in order to maintain the Trader Joe’s customer experience. We’re excited about bringing Trader Joe’s to the wonderful cities, towns, and neighborhoods in and around Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and beyond.
"We are actively looking for sites and we’re anxious to identify some great locations and begin hiring Crew Members."
That's nice and feel good and all, but it's not good enough. We want to know why not Houston first. Before Dallas, in case there's any ambiguity in that request.
"We don't disclose that information," Alison Mochizuki, director of national public relations for Trader Joe's, told CultureMap. "Beyond that statement, we don't have any additional comment."
Of course you wouldn't, Trader Joe's. It's easier to dump us in cold blood than to tell us the reason why you're breaking our hearts.
Flaunt on, Dallas. We'll get the girl next time.
