Downtown's Restaurant Rebirth
Another new downtown bar and gourmet coffee shop are in the works: Pick your new Poison
Lovers of dive-bar favorite Poison Girl rejoice: A service industry insider tells us that husband-and-wife team of Scott Walcott and Miriam Carrillo is having a fourth child — bar/cafe wise, that is.
Hopping on the downtown bandwagon, the owners of Poison Girl Cocktail Lounge, Antidote Coffee and Black Hole Coffee House are planning to open a bar next door to Goro & Gun. And there may be a new coffee shop too.
CultureMap's source says that the coffee shop may not necessarily be owned by Walcott and Carrillo as well. Dare we hope for another brainchild from Greenway Coffee and Tea's David Buehrer and Ecky Prabanto?
The cafe would be on the corner of Main and Congress, and the bar will be to the right of Goro and Gun. Construction has already begun on both spots.
The new places will be joining what's suddenly quickly becoming one of the hottest areas of Houston. Goro & Gun, Batanga Houston, Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar and Spirit Lodge, Clutch City Squire and OKRA Charity Saloon have all opened in the Main Street corridor area recently.
