Posted by The Stag's Head Pub on Tuesday, April 14, 2015Stag's Head's closure is one of a number of changes to bars and restaurants in the area. A number of places closed in 2014, including Haven, Nara and the funeral bars. Recently, new openings have included the relocated Capone's and Se7en nightclub in the former Azteca space.
On both Reddit and Facebook, customers expressed disappointment at the prospect of losing the English pub, which is known for its steak night and solid craft beer selection. They'll have to seek refuge at nearby spots like Mcelroy's, The Harp and Rice Village staple The Kelvin Arms.
Despite the sadness at the closing, 10 days of good times remain. Owner Michael Holliday, who also owns The Richmond Arms and King's Head Pub, tells the Chronicle he has a simple request for people who come to the bar's last day.
"I want them to drink the place dry. I don’t want any booze or food left over."
