Last Chef Standing
We're down to the Elite Eight! Houston restaurant challenge pits foodie powersagainst each other
The first round of CultureMap's Last Chef Standing Restaurant Challenge ended with tight scores and narrow margins — this was inevitable, with superb chefs and delicious foodie fare.
Now, it's down to the elite eight.
Recently-opened Roots Bistro narrowly beat out the inventive Samba Grille, and is now battling it out against the contemporary Italian cuisine at Four Seasons' Quattro.
The swanky, Pan-Asian flavors of Gigi's Asian Bistro are now pitted against the casual atmosphere and creative toppings of West Ave favorite, Alto Pizzeria.
Liberty Kitchen Oyster Bar's extensive menu offers much more than seafood, and the Tasting Room Wine Cafe's gourmet dishes were impressive enough to beat out Ava Kitchen & Whiskey Bar by a slim two percent. Which of the two will move on to Round Three?
Between The Grove at Discovery Green and Monarch at Hotel ZaZa, it's impossible to say which has served more pretty people or famous faces. Each delivers American cuisine with a twist, which makes this second round matchup all the more complicated.
The stakes are getting higher for the Whole Foods People's Choice Champion. Who will you choose for the Last Chef Standing?
The Last Chef Standing online bracket winner will hold the ultimate bragging rights of being named the Whole Foods People's Choice Champion, but all 16 restaurants will be on hand for the Last Chef Standing tasting event on April 9 at Hotel ZaZa, competing for votes from the crowd and the judges. Tickets for the tasting event are available now.
Voting in this quarterfinal round runs through noon Wednesday. Remember, you can vote once a day.
