Houston voters have spoken, and it's a landslide victory for Max's Wine Dive.
The Washington Avenue resto, which mixes gourmet ingredients and a rocking wine list with classic comfort foods, is the first-ever winner of The Big Dance Restaurant Challenge. Over five rounds, more than 300,000 total votes were cast in a contest that animated passions all over the city.
Max's beat out The Tasting Room with 87 percent of the vote in the final. One consolation for TTR, which was handed the biggest beat down of the entire tournament, is that the winner is from the same company — both concepts are owned by Houston-based Lasco Enterprises.
Max's will be serving food (for purchase) at The Big Dance Concert Series alongside three more restaurants, which will be picked from the final eight of the Restaurant Challenge by a panel of judges on Wednesday.
The Big Dance Concert Series will take place at Discovery Green on April 1-3 as part of the NCAA Final Four celebration. The free event features A-list concerts and entertainment, including April 2's announced headliner Kings of Leon.
