Say sayonara: Cinq chef Jeramie Robison is heading to Austin — and Uchi
Louisiana native Jeramie Robison's star has been on the rise since 2010, when he took the helm at Cinq, the revitalized restaurant inside La Colombe d'Or. Now the young chef is leaving the restaurant and the city for an opportunity he describes as "once in a lifetime."
Robison is taking a position as sous chef at Uchi in Austin, working alongside James Beard winner Tyson Cole.
"It was an opportunity that pretty much fell in my lap," Robison says. "They came in to eat my food and loved it and offered me a job. It's a whole different side of cooking for me."
Since moving into Houston after a stint at Tesar's in The Woodlands, Robison has been named a Rising Star by Gayot and StarChefs.com.
Valentine's reservations at Cinq are safe, as Robison has a few more days on the job. It's exciting to see a young Houston chef move up to new challenges, but I'll miss Jeramie's amazing Creole-inflected take of French cuisine.
Have you tasted Robison's food at Cinq (or his menu at Zimm's Little Deck)? What do you think?
