Downtown's new coffee shop
Blacksmith owners bringing coffee, doughnuts, and more to downtown office tower
Something new is percolating at downtown’s Hines Development at 609 Main St., the new office tower that's set to open at the end of January.
Prelude Coffee and Tea, from the folks behind local roasters Greenway Coffee Company as well as the coffee shops Greenway Coffee & Tea, Blacksmith, and Morningstar, will be located in the lobby of the 48-story building. Owners David Buehrer and Ecky Prabanto are targeting a May opening for the latest venture, according to a statement issued Thursday.
Like Morningstar — one of CultureMap's best new restaurants of 2016 — patrons should expect a diverse matcha program featuring alternative milk choices showcased in drinks like the Matcha Sua Da, a non-dairy spin on the traditional Vietnamese drink made with Japanese green tea and condensed/evaporated soy milk, as well as freshly-made doughnuts, pastries, and kolaches.
While downtown already has a few high-quality coffee options like The Honeymoon and Tout Suite, Prelude's location in the heart of the central business district will give office workers a locally-roasted alternative to the Starbucks locations that are omnipresent in the tunnels.
"We chose this location because we wanted to work alongside such a well reputable company as Hines. Their benchmark of quality and design is unparalleled and we are excited to work with them," Buehrer tells CultureMap.
