Hopdoddy in the Heights
Wildly popular Austin burger joint reveals opening date for new Heights location

Burger fans in the Heights will soon have a new option for satisfying their carnivorous cravings.
Austin-based burger chain Hopdoddy announced it will open its new locations in the Heights Waterworks development at 11 am on Monday, January 21. Located at 449 W. 19th St., the new restaurant will be the first in the project by local developer Braun Enterprises, but in the coming months it will joined by vegan restaurant Verdine, a second location of Common Bond bakery, and a new outpost of Jinya Ramen.
Known almost as much for its long lines as for its food, Hopdoddy offers an array of patty choices (beef, chicken, tuna, veggie, etc.) with a wide variety of toppings; in addition, the restaurant bakes its buns in-house, serves skinny fries with surprisingly good queso, and offers beverage options that include both a number of Texas craft beers and affordable cocktails.
All of these factors have made the rapidly expanding burger chain a runaway success since Houston's first Hopdoddy opened on Memorial Day weekend in 2016 at River Oaks District. Since then, Hopdoddy has added outposts in Vintage Park, Rice Village, CityCentre, and Baybrook.
Then again, those lines could be a little shorter in the Heights. The neighborhood is already home to a number of popular burger joints and restaurants that serve good burgers, including Hubcap Grill, Becks Prime, Down House, Bernie's Burger Bus, Harold's, and La Lucha. A second location of Montrose favorite The Burger Joint will debut soon, too.
Still, judging by the chain's success, Houstonians' appetites for burgers seems pretty limitless.
