Beloved Bar Shutters
Beloved bar shutters after 15 years amid changes in Rice Village restaurant bar scene

A fixture of the Rice Village bar scene has poured its last pint. Hospitality USA, the Houston-based restaurant group behind Local Pour and Sherlock’s, announced today that it has closed the Rice Village location of Baker St. Pub & Grill.
Village Arcade manager Trademark Property Co. elected not to renew the bar's lease, according to HUSA. Baker St. has begun the search for a new location in the area.
While patrons will undoubtedly miss the bar on St. Patrick's Day, they can comfort themselves at nearby establishments like The Gorgeous Gael, The Ginger Man and the Kelvin Arms.
The last year has brought a few other changes to the mix of restaurants in Rice Village. Dim sum favorite Yum Yum Cha closed in June when it lost its lease. The third location of seafood-oriented Liberty Kitchen will soon replace the shuttered Ruggles Bakery. Work also continues on the massive, two-story expansion for Hungry's Cafe.
