CityCentre cannot be contained: A new J. Crew and more headed into the hot spot
A new J. Crew store is opening up in town. Casual-chic Houstonians will be able to buy their ballet flats and quality knitwear without braving the Galleria crowds.
Of course, you'll have to deal with the crowds at the ever-hot CityCentre. J. Crew is taking over a 5,127 square-foot space on the first floor of CityCentre One with plans to open in 2012.
This is the latest in a wave of expansions and store openings at the two-year-old retail and dining hotspot: Urban Outfitters opened in June. Paper Source's second Houston location opened in late September. FLOSS Dental just signed a lease. A Brookstone pop-up gift boutique is opening for the holidays. Lululemon, purveyors of attractive athletic attire, will open its doors later this year.
Texas A&M University's May's Business School will also open a satellite classroom site for its Executive MBA program, and classes will begin there in the fall of 2012.
Add these expansions to the already flourishing restaurants, retail shops, nightclubs, hotels and residences — plus the weeklyEco-Farmer's Market on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. — and you have a destination spot. As long as you don't mind crowds.
