Magic Johnson wants to sell his once-troubled adult entertainment complex: Have $90 million?
Those in the market for a massive entertainment complex will be delighted to know that the Magic Johnson-owned Marq*E is officially on the block.
For an estimated bid of $90 million you could get 350,000 square feet of space that currently includes a 23-screen Edwards Cinema, the Improv Comedy Club and adult playground Dave & Buster’s. And let's not forget club Drink, LA Fitness and bounce-house party zone Pump It Up.
The Marq*E has made great strides to move past a high-profile shooting incident in 2006.
Foodwise, there are a host of options ranging from Red Robin and Cafe Adobe to LoCal's Healthy Joint and the intriguing K-Pop sushi buffet.
Located just off I-10 and the West Loop, this place has it all, folks . . . and 96 percent of it is currently under lease, according to industry publication Real Estate Alert.
The Marq*E has made great strides to move past a high-profile shooting incident in 2006, which occurred just months before Johnson and his company Canyon-Johnson purchased the center.
A major 2011 renovation opened up the complex's famously creepy interior corridor — later dubbed the "avenue of nightmares" by Canyon-Johnson's Bobby Turner — as a means to increase I-10 visibility for businesses and diminish ongoing security issues.
Johnson's company continues to maintain Hotel Icon in downtown Houston and recently partnered with local developers Midway to re-imagine the troubled Houston Pavilions, now rebranded as GreenStreet.
