Golden Nugget to be a golden egg?
Tilman Fertitta closes on Trump's Atlantic City Casino
Tilman Fertitta's purchase of Donald Trump's Marina Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, which was first announced back in February, has been finalized.
Fertitta's Landry's, Inc. will transform the ailing property into a Golden Nugget Casino, which also has locations in Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nev. (Landry's also operated a Golden Nugget in Atlantic City from 1980 to 1987.)
Renovations have already begun to have the place ready for partying for Memorial Day Weekend: The new Chart House restaurant will open May 26, two temporary bars have been added, and a new nightspot called The Red Room, billed as "the ultimate place to see and be seen," is ready for a wild weekend.
The Deck, an outdoor entertainment area that overlooks the Marina, opened May 20.
The remainder of the property's improvements, including a new lounge and new after-hours bar, as well as a spa, renovated showroom, updated suites, high-end retail boutiques and an H2O pool should be completed by late fall.
Landry's brands Vic and Anthony's and Grotto are also expected to join the property, which will be the only casino with a full-service marina.
